The Aurora Central Catholic Football Program will kickoff their second session of Summer Camp tomorrow, in what will be the start of three crucial weeks for the Chargers. The second session includes three weeks of camp, as well as appearances in four “7 on 7″ competitions before the summer season closes on July 28th.
“We are excited about where we are at this point,” Head Coach Brian Casey said. “The kids have had a week off to rejuvenate themselves, and now we have a lot of work to do, and they know that.”
After spending much of June dodging raindrops on campus, the Chargers will move around a bit during July with some camp dates at alternate locations as well as visiting three different schools for “7 on 7′s” (Bolingbrook, Pontiac, Buffalo Grove).
In total the Chargers have 14 different “contact days” to improve on what has already been a very productive summer camp.
“We really need to use these days to take that next step,” Casey said. “We have gotten a lot better over the first session, but now we have a month to perfect some things before we start our season in August.”
In addition to the High School Summer Camp, the Chargers will welcome a number of guests over the next few weeks. The ACC Youth Football Summer Camp begins tomorrow (7/11) and runs through the end of the week. The camp is for Youth Football Players entering 2nd-8th grade. Camp times run from 1:00 – 2:30 (Grades 6-8), and 2:30-4:00 (Grades 2-5).
“Our coaches and players really enjoy hosting the Youth Summer Camp,” Casey said. “It gives the chance for some of the younger kids from the area to come and learn some of the same things that the Varsity team is learning, and they get to meet and hang out with some of the high school kids that they will watch on Friday nights.”
The following week, the ACC Coaching Staff will conduct a Speed and Agility Camp from 4:00-5:30 (registration is still available, check www.auroracentral.com for brochures) for those grade school students entering 4th – 12th Grades. Then, on July 21st, the Coaching Staff will host the 1st “Football 101″ clinic for women.
“This is the first time we are trying the women’s clinic”, Casey said. “The event will give some of the mom’s and other fans the opportunity to learn more about the game, the rules, the equipment and such.”
The cost of “Football 101″ is $18, and half the proceeds will go towards Breast Cancer research. More information on “Football 101″ can be found on the front page of this website, as well as on the events tab.
