Head Coach Brian Casey, assistant coach Eric Fulara, and members of the ACC Football Program visited Halas Hall in Lake Forest Saturday morning, serving as clinicians at the 2011 “USA Football” Youth Coaching School. Casey, who has represented Aurora Central Catholic at each of the last three USA Coaching School’s, presented to more than 25 coaches of the U-12 age group (11-12 year old coaches).
The morning consisted of two classroom sessions, where Casey and Fulara spoke on topics ranging from Player Characteristics and Motivation, to Practice Planning and Tactical Skills. The clinic concluded with a series of on-field presentations inside the Walter Payton Center, the indoor facility of the Chicago Bears. Demonstrated by current and former ACC Players (John Belovich ’10, senior Kyle Clechenko, and juniors Steve Belovich, Tyler Nelson, and Izzy Rosa), coaches were treated fundamental drills of every football position.
“It is always a lot of fun to come to Halas Hall and work with USA Football”, Casey said. “Our kids have a great time working out in the same place as the Bears, and I think the youth coaches get some great information, not only from us (ACC), but from all the presenters.”
Todays event, hosted by USA Football, is another way ACC Football has worked to continue to educate youth football coaches. Each winter, ACC hosts a Youth Football Coaches Clinic, which has featured great lineups of local high school and college coaches.
