Aurora Central Catholic Football seniors Kyle Clechenko and Nick Holzer were named as members of the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Academic All-State Team for Class 3A. For both young men, it was the second academic achievement they have earned, as both were named Academic All-Conference presented by the Suburban Christian Conference.
Academic All-State recipients are chosen by members of the Illinois High School Coaches Association. All nominees must maintain a minimum of a 3.6 grade point average, along with being named as a First Team All-Conference in their respective conferences.
This awards adds to an already impressive post-season awards list for both. Clechenko and Holzer were “Co-MVP’s” for the 2011 Chargers, both were All-Conference, Academic All-Conference, and have been named to the All-Area teams in each of the three local newspapers.
