The Aurora Central Catholic Charger Football team dropped their Suburban Christian Conference opener to Immaculate Conception 41-0 Saturday afternoon at Bob Stewart Field. The loss, the Chargers first of 2011, dropped their record to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Immaculate Conception set the tone early, as they scored on their first three possessions, jumping out to a 20-0 lead after one quarter. Junior Luke Dickerson (Aurora), provided a bright spot for the Chargers as his interception and 41 yard return, halted a Knight drive halfway through the second quarter.
The Chargers had chances to score, and moved the ball for most of the afternoon, but failed to capitalize on their opportunities. Senior Marcus Jefferson (Aurora), paced the Charger rushing attack with 68 yards on the ground.
Aurora Central Catholic will now regroup before hosting Chicago Christian this Friday night (9/16) in Aurora. The game marks the conclusion of season-opening four game home stand for the Chargers. It also is Homecoming at ACC, the ACC Football program is sponsoring a “Gold Rush”. All alumni, students, parents, and fans are encouraged to wear Gold from head to toe in support of the Chargers. Sophomore kickoff is schedueld for 5:30 p.m., the Varsity will follow at 7:30 p.m.
