Aurora Central Catholic High School is conducting baseline tests in an effort to help determine when a player is healthy enough to return to play following a head injury. The tests, ImPACT Testing & Computerized Neurocognitive Assessment Tools, will be conducted at ACC on computers and will be administered by Athletic Trainer Vanessa Rios of ATI. Testing will begin on Tuesday (8/9) at 1:30 p.m.for all ACC Football players. Tests will be conducted ten at a time and will last for roughly 20-30 minutes. Testing will continue throughout the afternoon on Tuesday for football players only, with the last testing group beginning at 6:00 p.m.
ImPACT provides computerized neurocognitive assessment tools and services that are used by medical doctors, psychologists, athletic trainers, and other licensed healthcare professionals to assist them in determining an athlete’s ability to return to play after suffering a concussion.
All Football players must have a signed consent forms when arriving to take the tests. Consent forms were mailed home in the “ACC Handbook” mailing. Tuesday’s tests will be for football players only, and will be in conjunction with Equipment Handout beginning at 3:30 p.m, and the ACC Football Family Cookout beginning at 6:00 p.m. Additional testing dates and times are available the rest of the week, however, Tuesday is a dedicated day for football players only. While the ImPACT testing is not mandatory for football players, it is strongly encouraged by the ACC Coaching Staff, Training Staff, and Athletic Office.
