Junior Pat Marcoux (Oswego) and sophomore Brian Bohr (Aurora) earned membership into the “Championship Effort” club at Aurora Central Catholic, Wednesday following the teams summer camp practice. Marcoux and Bohr become the third and fourth members, joining Nick Holzer and Joe Cisneros who were recognized earlier this month.
Marcoux, a captain on the sophomore level last season, was recognized for his effort throughout the entire summer, including extra time spent in the weight room and relentless effort in the Chargers Summer Scrimmage on Monday. Marcoux, who saw some significant action in 2010 on the Varsity level, is making the move from linebacker to defensive end this season, and will contribute on the offensive line. Marcoux also participates in Wrestling at ACC, and is a Student Ambassador.
“Pat has really turned a corner this summer and has improved in a lot of ways,” ACC Head Coach Brian Casey said. “He has learned a new position on defense, and has volunteered to help the program by learning the center position on offense. Throughout all of those changes, the one trait that has not waivered has been his attitude. Patrick comes every day trying to get better in any and all facets, and those improvements are clear.”
Bohr, only a sophomore, has spent his summer working out with the Varsity for the Chargers. As a freshman in 2010, Bohr played significant roles on both the freshman and sophomore teams, starting at linebacker on both (also started at running back on the freshman). As a freshman, Bohr scored 5 rushing touchdowns in a 48-21 win over Wheaton Academy. Bohr is a three sport athlete at ACC, also participating in Basketball and Baseball.
“Brian has grown up quite a bit this summer,” Casey said. “Most sophomores spend their summers working with the sophomore level, and learning at a more reasonable pace. Brian has been with the Varsity since day one, and has learned and improved going at full speed. His improvement, along with how hard he works has made him very valuable to our program and will improve our chances this fall.”
