Thursday evening marked the inaugural “Football 101″ hosted by the Aurora Central Catholic Football Program. Over 20 mothers, grandmothers, and other female football fans were in attendance taking part in the event.
Attendees were treated to a Power Point presentation on the basics of the game, including, field dimensions, rules, teams, positions, penalties, by Coach Casey. After the dinner, members of the 2011 ACC Varsity football team held a ”Football Fashion Show”, giving everyone an idea on the pads that are worn on a day-to-day basis. Everyone in attendance had the chance to try on helmets and shoulder pads, as well as ask questions pertaining to the sport, or the ACC Football Program.
“It was pretty neat,” ACC Head Coach Brian Casey said. “The turnout was very good, everyone was engaged, asking questions, I thought it was a lot of fun for our kids and coaches and everyone involved.”
All proceeds from the event, were donated to the Shands University Hospital Cancer Center at the University of Florida for continued research towards Breast Cancer.
